i meet the same problem,after register aspnetdb,i can login on and register user successfully.

but when i host a dinner to click the button "save",there will be error 26,so is the view mydinner.

i am confused.

However an updated documentation is really needed, furthermore it would be nice to be able to select sql server databases and not express, for those of us that would like to upload nerddinner to commercial webhotel provider, which dont support express.

I have today 2012 january 18th. downloaded NerdDinner (NerdDinner 2.0 Complete ASP.NET MVC Sample App - http://nerddinner.codeplex.com/releases/view/45647) and am experiencing problems with the edit dinner functionality. It will not save updates to a dinner. I do not get any exception, everything runs, but changes are however never made.

Found the culprit.
In DinnersController > public ActionResult Edit(int id, FormCollection collection)
changes UpdateModel(dinner, "Dinner");
to
UpdateModel(dinner);

I just downloaded the sample app and ran it within Visual Studio 2010. I can create a dinner, and bring up the Edit view, when I click the Save button after making some changes it takes me back to the Details view without actually saving the changes.

I'm trying to convert NerdDinner into using SQL Server 2008 databases (instead of using sql server express editon, my webhost provider, Surftown.dk does not support sql server express).

I'm working with the NerdDinner (Change Set 70027, the sln under the trunk folder which contains a MVC 3 Razor version).

I have created the asp.net member database inside sql server 2008, into a new database which I have named NDUsers. I have also managed to create another database inside SQL Server 2008 called NDMain and copied all tables data from Dinners.mdf to this database.

Now when I run the applikation it runs fine until when I click "view all upcomming dinners", then I get an error stating:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I have also looked at : Extending NerdDinner: Exploring Different Database Options, 
but this article does not seem to apply to my situation.

I was having same problem when I implemented NerdDinner on my localhost, using SQL Server 2008.

The solution to get NerdDinner up and running smootly is actually quite simple

I have download nerddinner-70027 and using trunk folder

Now just do these 3 steps and you will have NerdDinner up and running.

1. download and install Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 Express RC0
from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=28151 you may also download SQL Management Studio from same place.

2. now just open NerdDinner (in Visual Studio (I'm using 2010)) and open web.config and connectionStrings.config
The connectionString inside these should point to your 2012 server instance name e.g.

3. Open Server Explorer (inside VS) and right click mdf databases one by one, go to Modify Connection > klik Advanced button and change the DataSource to your 2012 sql server instance name

Thats it, you dont even have to commet-out your mini MiniProfiler code. Everything should run just smootly.

In order to have NerdDinner MVC 3 Razor with mdf databases implemented correctly you just have to do following as of january 2012

1: download sql server express 2012 and install it.

2: extract nerddinner and change web.config datasource to the servername of sql server express 2012

3: do the same for connectionstrings.config

Thats it.

Hi I have "installed" NerdDinner and it's working nicely.

I am now trying to debug it, in order to try out a few things. However It seems like MVC Mini profiler is interfering with the debugging.

I basically just set a break point at HomeController.cs at public ActionResult Index(){ ... -and it goes fine until it has to return the View ( Return View(); ). Here I get an error page saying "No Source Available", There is no source available for the current location.

I have gotten NerdDinner up and running. I'm trying to change the default location (us) of the Bing map, on the index.cshmtl.

It's not that straightforward as I had imagined. I can see there is a getCurrentLocation() javascript method on index.cshtml, however it seem like this method has not been implemented.

I would prefer if someone could point me in the right direction.

In short: I would like to locate the location of the current user, if he is from Sweden then I would like to show a Swedish map, and if from Germany then a map of Germany and so forth.
